BOTOX® (Type A Botulinum Toxin)

Elimination of expression lines. Expression lines are dynamic wrinkles caused on the skin by performing the same muscle movement or gesture again and again.

The Botulinum Toxin (commercially known as BOTOX®), has been used for therapeutic purposes over 20 years and for plastic and aesthetic purposes since about 8 years ago.

What is the Botulinum Toxin?

It is a purified proteinic toxin produced by a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. While there are several types of toxins produced by this bacterium, only the type “A” toxin has been used.

Although it is a toxin, BOTOX® (Type A Botulinum Toxin) does not cause adverse side effects because the amounts used in the treatment of expression lines are too little to spread through the rest of the body.
